Dr. Atef “Adam” Saleh, PE, MBA, HBAP

Dr. Saleh is the president of SOLQUEST Analytics & Engineering, Inc. He is a registered Professional Engineer with over 36 years of combined progressive engineering, data science, and business experience on projects of widely varying types (onshore and offshore), sizes, and geographical distribution (domestic and international). He possesses strong technical/problem-solving skills and extensive experience in both the analytical and experimental aspects of geotechnical engineering and data analytics.

Dr. Saleh received his Civil Engineering BS and MS degrees from Northeastern University and his PhD degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds an MBA degree from Rice University and recently completed the Harvard Business Analytics Program at the Harvard Business School.

Through SOLQUEST Engineering, Inc., he provides data analytics and engineering consulting services to various entities in various industries including the construction and oil and gas industries. Prior to creating SOLQUEST, Dr. Saleh served as a Senior Research Engineer in the Offshore Division of ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company (previously known as EPR). During his employment with ExxonMobil, he developed new technology aimed at improving design basis and reducing costs of foundation systems in deep and ultra-deep waters. The work involved sophisticated numerical modeling using the finite element techniques, 1-g experimental data, and centrifuge testing. He also provided geotechnical engineering stewardship and consulting for ExxonMobil affiliates dealing with how to properly collect, integrate, interpret, automate, and analyze geophysical and geotechnical data, and how to extract insights and design parameters for offshore exploration, development, and production projects worldwide.

Dr. Saleh’s experience also includes a large number of onshore projects. Earlier in his career he established a full-service Boston office of a Houston, Texas geotechnical firm. He managed an office of six engineers that provided engineering support to major construction management companies for the $15-billion Central Artery and $7-billion Boston Harbor Projects.

Dr. Saleh served as an adjunct Professor at the University of Houston. He taught Advanced Foundation Engineering: Design and Analysis for the Graduate Department of Civil Engineering. He is presently teaching the geotechnical engineering lectures of the “Design of Fixed Offshore Platforms” offered annually at the University of Texas at Austin.
